ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Grey items such as iron plate armour, when lying on the ground in Carn D?m, are nigh invisible. They're even worse than poison vine traps in the Trollshaws, and I didn't think that was possible. The only way I can see them is to note the message that pops up in the message area when I walk on one, or to observe the blue squares on the minimap.

I'm not sure how to fix these kinds of issues. One way would be to draw blue squares around items, and yellow squares around traps, when using the [T]actical display. But then I'm not sure if that would distract from monsters....

Hmm.... subtle. It would help if you actually had a grey thing in the screen shot, rather than a gold thing.

(If there's a grey thing in that screen shot, then the answer is "No, it's not better." Because I can't see one.)

Apart from that, I think the shadow is a nice touch.

Shadowing would be nice, assuming that this near-invisibility isn't a "feature." Changing the tactical display could work too, though it might make the screen seem rather busy to some.
