Black ants not black?

So, im adventuring in the Old Forest, and this white ant comes up to me and this happens:
Black ant hits for X acid damage. Your potions are destroyed!

But . . .the ant is a WHITE "a"! Shouldnt black ants be . .umm . . black a's?
Or is this just pure evil on the part of the creator?
(50% chance for either, imo)

I'm running the 16x16 graphical mode.

they are not black because of in ascii mode they won't show up, I made them black, but there was no black defined so they show up as white :) (no I am not the creater, I am helping with the monsters.)

so when there is a black monster another question comes up, namely, who to be evil to, that is:

a) be evil to the ascii players, or
b) be evil to the graphics players.

since graphical players won't necessarily always have the crossover of graphics/ascii, the graphics players are the one to take the hit.

though there will also be the people who like the blend of the two who end up with the worst end of the bargain (yes I am part of this one).

So . .i was right . . pure evil on the part of the designers.

not really, just the choices are evil.... not why black is white for them.

all that really needs to be done is their color tag changed to whatever the black mamba is.

"Black" monsters should be dark grey, should be easy to change that.

yeah, if you want to change it now you can go to the game/modules/tome/data/general/npcs/ants/lua and change black and acid ants to a dark grey.
