ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

First off, ToME is awesome! I'm having an absolute blast with this game!

That being said, I'm lost as to what effect Aegis has on Disruption Shield. The description in the Aegis talent says "Disruption Shield: Tap into the stored energies to restore the shield (at a rate of 2 energy per 1 shield power)".
But, when I activate Aegis, my Disruption Shield does not restore its shield points. Am I interpreting this talent wrong?

The description of it on Aegis is kinda jank and partially due to the Disruption shield having been reworked "recently".

Anyway, Disruption shield has 3 major components:

1. The normal damage shield that recharges out of combat and acts primarily as an autoexplore safety tool

2. After the damage shield is down, taking damage will drain your mana instead of life. This damage accumulates the "energy" mentioned in Aegis tooltip

3. After you reach 50% of your max mana and take a hit (or you reach the maximum stored energy), the shield bursts and makes an arcane AoE around you that hits all other targets for arcane damage depending on how much energy the shield had stored.

So what is being referenced for restoring the shield by the Aegis talent is after the shield has been downed and you are taking damage to your mana pool instead.
Aegis should be activated when you have taken a decided amount of damage to your mana (which is stored as energy) and this should restore your shield.

Yea, sadly it's kinda irrelevant effect as the Disruption shield draining your mana should be your last line of defense, and at that point 1. Aegis should've already been used and 2. You should be thinking about how to either end the fight right now or get out
