ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Hi

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this. I'm not sure if it would be classified as a "bug" that I would report, since it's been an ongoing issue through all versions of the game. Basically, my chat messages don't show for anyone else. It allows me to type in chat, and my achievements appear in chat, but no one appears to be able to see them. I can see other players chat. I assume I'm not the only person having this problem, because I see players in the character vault all the time that I've never seen in chat. I remember reading a thread awhile back that said it had something to do with my steam account having an underscore in its name, which somehow messes things up, but now I can't seem to find that thread. I believe the suggestion was that you needed to contact DG or another admin to somehow fix the issue on a player by player basis, but again, it's been a couple years, I might be completely misremembering it. Or maybe I'm just so unpopular that no one has ever responded to any of my chat messages or achievements in years, and this is all a massive cope on my part pretending that it's a bug .

Anyway, dumb question or bug, idk. Would greatly appreciate any help. It's mildly annoying not being able to chat in game.

TLDR: steam account with underscore in name leading to issues with integration, chat not visible to others

Hey, I suggest you contact DarkGod via the form at https://te4.org/contact as most likely he's the only one that can see what's happening and do something about it.

If you happen to notice this, restart your ToME (relog) and you should be able to talk again

Yea, it works now. Was anything done behind the scenes to make it work, or was I just being an idiot?

I'd rather do it in private so if you at some point see me in the chat, throw a whisper (or if you're on discord, that works too)
