ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I'm only encountering 8 escorts in my recent game play.

Is it because of one of my addons? If so, which? (probably one of the DLCs, Marson's Character Recycler or Clock addon)

Go back and check Kor'pul and Dreadfell.

Sometimes there is no path to the portal, but after autoexploring you opened all the doors and so the escort can actually generate if you go back.

If you still don't have it check Trollmire, OF and Daikara, maybe it spawned in a vault (happened to me in giant village once)

If you still don't have it well no clue

In addition to Kor'pul and Dreadfell - both where doors can block Escort path generation - it's possible for an Escort to get blocked in the Scintillating Caverns.

The 5-level layout can sometimes generate a very small area around the entry & exit, and you need to dig to find the rest of the level. Those levels can also block Escort path generation, for the same reason: not enough room.

If you had the 5-level crystal cave layout, go back and dig them out so you can traverse the whole level, then re-enter the dug-out levels.

This has happened to me exactly once.
