The Guides says that a lich-necromancer should become undead ASAP, as the life bonus are non-retroactive.

My character is lvl26, 2 lives left and a blood of life drank. Lichform is 5/5 at 1.30 mastery (6.5)

The question is the effective level - 6 or 7? I can't find a Necrosis amulet though (I do have a wheel of fate ring in another save - the mastery amulets seems to be generated according to character's class per run)

I guess that if I choose to transform now, I would become a lvl6 lich. So, the question is -

1. Will the mastery be rounded ? i.e. 6.5 is approximately 7.
2. If I become a lvl 6 lich, and raise the mastery to 1.4-1.5 after that (by category point at lvl30 or an amulet), is that possible again to be a lvl7 lich when leveling up?
3. Will the already drank blood of life be nulified?
4. What's the lich's mechanics? Besides not being able to use infustions, is it really immortal (by having infinite lives?) and does it require using a clock of deception?

No. Mastery is never rounded. The hard talent points (5) are multiplied by the mastery (1.3) to get your Effective Talent Level (6.5).

No. The power of your Lichform is decided at the time of your death, when you finish the Lichdom ritual.

This I actually don't know, but I would expect that yes, it would. Blood of Life generally doesn't work on undead.

They are absolutely not immortal. They are only Undead - meaning that you can't use infusions, you're immune to poison, cut, and fear, you get 100% resistance to stuns and diseases, and a few other effects. These should all be listed in the talent description, as follows:

All liches gain the following intrinsics:

Poison, cut, and fear immunity.
100% disease and stun resistance.
20% cold and darkness resistance.
No need to breathe.
Infusions do not work.
Also:

At level 1: -3 to all stats, -10% to all resistances. Such meagre devotion!
At level 2: Nothing.
At level 3: +3 Magic and Willpower, +1 life rating (not retroactive).
At level 4: +3 Magic and Willpower, +2 life rating (not retroactive), +10 spell and mental saves, Celestial/Star Fury category (0.7) and 0.1 negative energies regeneration.
At level 5: +5 Magic and Willpower, +2 life rating (not retroactive), +10 spell and mental saves, all resistance caps raised by 10%, Celestial/Star Fury category (0.9) and 0.5 negative energy regeneration.
At level 6: +6 Magic, Willpower and Cunning, +3 life rating (not retroactive), +15 spell and mental saves, all resistance caps raised by 15%, Celestial/Star Fury category (1.1) and 1.0 negative energy regeneration.
At level 7: Your power becomes overwhelming! +12 Magic, Willpower and Cunning, 60% chance to ignore critical hits, +4 life rating (not retroactive), +35 spell and mental saves, all resistance caps raised by 15%, Celestial/Star Fury category (1.3) and 1.0 negative energy regeneration.

So the main benefits of Lichform are going to be your stat buffs, crit shrug, life rating, resistance caps, and access to Star Fury, an Anorithil tree dealing mostly with Darkness damage, and you absolutely, definitely want to be a level 7 Lich if you're doing it at all. Loss of infusions is a HUGE opportunity cost and you need to get the most bang for your buck to make up for it. Many high level hard difficulty players say that you should skip lichform altogether, as it's suboptimal to be undead, but... that just takes all the fun out of it. Go be a badass undead ultraLich, just know what you're trading for it.

I have no idea if they need a Cloak of Deception, as I've never actually created a Lich myself. If you need one, it'll probably give it to you. Probably. I expect that they don't need one.

I haven't played necromancer much.. heck, I just finished unlocking the class (finally!), but this thread piqued my interest and I'm thinking of trying it for my next char.

1. Since you said that Lich-level is basically 'fixed' at the moment of 'death', I take it that means to become a level 7 Lich, I have to increase the mastery level 'before' I start the quest for Lich-dom, yes?

2. More of a dumb question really: if I play an Undead Necromancer (Skelly comes to mind.. I'm beginning to love these guys..), I'm guessing I won't become any Undeader by the time I gain Lich-form, yes? That way I won't miss much, since I won't be able to use infusions from the beginning anyway.

.. really? Have you or anyone else tried it out yet? No that I don't believe you, mind.. just thought that undead should have a chance to 'better themselves' through lich-dom, even though they can't become any undeader..

BRB testing out my own theory..

Edit: nvm.. just read about the requirements for the lich quest, and one of them is 'not already an undead'.. imma sad panda.. oh well, forget my dumb question then..

My character (Nightmare/Adventure, LV 30 Cornac tinker Necromancer) died with the blood of life consumed...So now I still haven't seen a real lich yet. (But I have another Infinite Nightmare/Exploration Halfling necro, I started this wanted to gain a amulet and then use items vault)

Back to the topic, really, I suggest that new players get a amulet of mastery (0.1 is enough) from the Anglowen shop (If they have one) or from another save...In main campagin there are only 4-5 category points, and the last 2 come late. For a lich, 2 inscriptions + tinker + shade/advanced necro is needed for survival.
