ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Hi, might be a really dumb question but do unused accounts get deleted occasionally?
I haven't started ToME in quite a while and then kinda forgot about it, until it came up in a list of linux games. I managed to dig out the "Welcome to..." Emails for both, website and board. The passwords didn't work anymore (I might have reset them in the past), thus, I just tried to reset them again. The board account obviously worked but the website is not sending out any mails. I tried various other usernames/emails and passwords I used in the past, but everything is giving me a "Sorry, unrecognized username or password." error message...

Also annoying: This account had some nice Items on the vault...

Out of curiosity, I fired up the game after having not played for almost a full year. I logged into my profile via Steam and everything went well there, however, everything has been reset. I'm not sure if it's a versioning thing, like if the realm went through a hard reset or what. Weird stuff.

Interested in seeing what the reason/solution is for this one.

Unfortunately I never linked this with my Steam account. This would have required me to fiddle with steam under Arch Linux which is just a hassle...

Maybe the website update has something to do with this? I remember it looking different, the last time I played.

Even having my account linked through Steam, I'm still experiencing the same issue.

Well, this is embarrassing but turns out the emails were auto-forwarded to another one of my old & abandoned email address and then flagged as spam automatically by outlook.com and, thus, ignored by Thunderbird and never downloaded to my PC...

Now that I was able to reset my password everything is accessible again. Except for old characters, which I remember were stored locally.

Well, at least I made someone else discover a related problem...
