ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I had a Stone Warden character in 1.4.9, and have a few items on him I want to put into the vault. Initially, the game wouldn't let me even load the character up without basically re-downloading 1.4.9. I have no problem with just doing away with the character, except that I cannot place any items the character has into the vault. It says I cannot place an item into the vault from an un-validated game. How do I go about validating my old character?

edit: apparently all of my older characters are completely invalid according to the game.

I had this problem occasionally. Had to restart the game multiple times and then I could use the vault again
