ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I have a friend with some unfortunate internet restrictions that limit what he is allowed to post online. That is to say he can't post anything online. At all. He'd like to support ToME with a Donation and get the DLC but he can't if it would break his restrictions. So my question is, if he logs on to the server to get his donator bonuses, or DLC, will his score get posted online? If so, is there anyway to prevent the score posting?

What is the exact restriction ? "posting" is a bit vague, I mean game sends stuff to server but so does every page in a browser for instance

I believe there is an addon called "die in obscurity", although, i have no idea how much it actually does.
what it says it does, it will not post a death message in chat.
since you cannot modify the server, seems logical that he would prevent data being send to the server in the first place.

Essentially anything that could be construed as a message or other form of communication from him to another person at least in a multiplayer communication sense. Hence why I'm asking instead of him. he can only send and receive emails as far as online communication goes.

is it a type restriction, source/target restriction, or total data value limit restriction?

if i click on a link, and it loads a page, does it count towards that limit/restriction?

is there some sort of parental control?

More of a legal restriction.

For legal reasons he isn't allowed to communicate on any form of public forum, chat service, etc. completely private specifically targeted messages only.

There aren't all that many reasons, why someone would be restricted like that...
and if its not parental control, parents wanting to prevent communication...
then it was someone else who actually got angry...

Well if it's messaging that's the problem, just uncheck the chats channels in the options should work no?

PS: No, wait, could trolling have actually been criminalized? Or is your guy currently in jail, if so you should've just said so, not much shame in that. Withholding information like that though kind of undermines your credibility.

This person doesn't need credibility. They need a simple answer to a technical question. Let's not go around invading people's privacy for no good reason.

The question is very vague but the answer equally simple - just block ToME in a firewall and it won't be able to communicate with any server or send any messages. They can support ToME without sending a single outgoing message.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. My friend is on probation and his internet usage is monitored, hence the problem. I'll let him know about his options so far and see what we can do for him.
