What do souls do in the Undead Drake tree?

I have just unlocked this in Orc and started a Cormac wyrmic and learnt the Raze Spell. The description states that it captures 1 soul for every kill, but the character display immediately shows 10/10 souls even before I have moved from the starting position. I can find nothing which describes what the souls are used for or what advantage they give.

and certain resources, just start full when you get them. be it at the very start, or by picking a talent that requires that resource.
learning ANY talent, ALWAYS unlocks the required resource automatically.

to be more specific, they are a necromancer resource. you spend them, by casting certain spells.
Embers however also adds one tree to the wyrmic too. Other undead drake talents should have the cost shown.

for a necromancer, they are used to raise dead, or for the animus spells.
for the wyrminc, they are all contained within the tree.

souls do not give any "advantage", as as far as i know, having them doesn't affect anything, byond jsut having enough to use the ability.
