ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I've recently spent my points on Strength for the gollum because he keeps dying and I found a nice orange plate that seems to give good effects but requires 36 Strength. I'm hoping that this isn't just wasted points. I still have all the feat points except 1. I did spend 1 on eye beam 1(no magic enough to get rank 2). I have no trouble with regular mobs, but when a unique or boss comes out, all he seems to be able to do is not die for about 3-4 turns depending on the shield and then he's gone. Last time i only survived because my phase door was successful in putting me in a good spot where I could resummon and return to battle with my bomb charged up.

At what point do I spend on golemancy and stop spending on me?

The Golem can be quite weak and you may not be able to get it strong enough without lucky equipment.

One easy to overlook aspect of the golem is that it has 3 rune slots to start with, so it is possible to give it 3 shield runes (by using the rune of reflection).
