ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Hi there, dumb question inc! I'm playing a sawbutcher and I'm struggling to understand how steamsaws work. I'm level 34, strength 61. I have two steamsaws equipped: Mainhand is tier 3, offhand tier 4.

If I equip my offhand into my mainhand, my attack drops from 93 to 19. If I equip a tier 4 into my mainhand, the same thing happens. A far as I can tell I'm meeting all the requirements of the weapon; I can't figure out why my attack drops so dramatically when wielding a superiour weapon.

both hands had saws equipped right? don't know if that matters, but its best to eliminate the possibilities.

There is a bug with the damage display of some steamsaw equips but you should actually HIT for the correct damage.
