ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I recently found this game and it is rather fun, but I've encountered a problem. When I originally started the game I would left click on enemies and hit them with my bow if they were within range, which is awesome and went well for a while. Then, I died to that darn troll boss over and over, so I decided to test out another class (melee). I quickly went back to Archer (since I always prefer those kinds of characters) but when I went to click on an enemy, instead of shooting it I would instead move towards it, regardless of the distance between me and the mob. I have no idea why this is happening, and it's rather annoying.

I've tried cycling through shift+b's options, unbinding then rebinding shoot to LMB, turning off the quick melee options, and even deleting my settings and saves, but the problem persists. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My guess is that you got used to shooter with range 8 or over, but new archer had range 6. So when you click it is out of range and hence you move closer.

Could this solve your mysterious bug?

Binding Shoot to left-click in the Talents dialog should solve your problem.
