really dumb question: how do I use portals?

I recently started playing again and got the two items required to create the portal in the Paladins town. Also, found another portal in the desert. But, how do I use them?

Go talk to Zemekkys the alchemist that gave the quest. He probably has a solution.
Once the portal is created, you can use it with your orb.

Forgot i had the orb to activate portals.
