ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I just registered for ToME and downloaded the version 1.3.1 installer for windows. It downloaded a file called t-engine-launcher.
When I open that file it opens the Tales of Maj'Eyal Launcher. This is where I am stuck. At the launcher nothing is happening except changes to the lore box. I can click on the "play" button but nothing happens and I cannot click on the patch button. I am confused on how to proceed to play the game.

What OS? And can you run the game if you download it manually? Or does just the launcher create issues? The launcher shouldn't have 'play' until after it's downloaded the game, so the game should be installed on your system in the appropriate spot if play was lit up.

I have windows. What do you mean download it manually? I clicked on the link on the home page that said version 1.3.1. It downloaded a file, not application, that was a launcher. When I opened that the launcher had two progress bars both at 0% and nothing else happening.

In theory, the launcher should be downloading the files that stunt just pointed you at, and will update them to the next version when it's available. If you download manually instead, you'll have to manually update to a new version yourself, instead of having the patcher do it.

The game will function fine either way, however, assuming there's not some other problem down the line.

You might be able to stick the launcher on top of the game after you downloaded it?
