So, I made it into the fortress for the first time and noticed some paintings on the wall with some descriptions in a language my character can't read. Will he be able to decipher them later (No spoilers on the translation of those inscriptions please, if there are any)?

Yes, you can decipher the paintings and they will be unlocked as lore. It can be done using an item you can't miss getting toward the end of the game.

It is possible to obtain a way to translate them.

Thanks for the answers. I'm fine with the deciphering as a long term goal, just wanted to know if I'd be able to read the inscriptions eventually.
