ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

As the title says, I have the alt maze(I think) with the holes in the floor that you need to jump down. Went from the second level down to the third, and just after the drop my character is completely unable to move in any way. My rod of recall "makes weird noises and goes silent", do I just need to role play this as "My character crit fumbled his landing check and broke his back?"

I have no active effects beneficial or detrimental so I am kinda scratching my head here.

This just calls for a screenshot - could you provide one, where you landed after the drop? The holes in the ground definitely sound like the alt Maze, but the behaviour seems completely off (doubly so, as the alt Maze should not interfere with the Rod of Recall (and triply so, as the third level is _not_ the alt Maze's bottom level)).
Also, since 1.3 beta is out, you may want to specify whether you played 1.2.5 or 1.3beta (and which beta).

Alt Maze does disable Rod on the last level.
The inability to move is probably due to you being overencumbered after taking too much stuff out of your transmo chest.

Okay. Character was overencumbered, yet I hadn't picked up anything on the prior level that I felt worth picking up. I was fully capable of moving to and jumping down. Simply transmogged a couple of chest drops.

Also am on maze 3 with more areas to jump down. Overencumbrance disables rod of recall which is good to know for the future though this was the first time I ever became overencumbered, and in a confusing way to boot.

Okay I identified the issue. I switched to a different ring that I had in my inventory on the transmog screen, had put it on and it removed my ring of growth so I was down 4 strength and 1 will instead of being up 1 will and 4 magic(not that I really wanted/needed the magic on a summoner.)
