This is probably the most irrelevant question ever posted on this thread, and I apologize, but I have to know. Was the Shadowblade in Tome inspired by the shadowdancer from Baldur's gate? I noticed that both have the skill shadowstep.

Rogues in World of Warcraft have it as well. Its not that unique of a skill. It could be tho?

I think Baldur's gate was probably made before both ToME and WoW.

Shadowdancer is a prestige class from D&D, so it's not even unique to Baldur's Gate.

There was no shadowdancer in original Baldur's Gate though. It's one of the features of Enhanced Edition, which was released the same year as ToME4 (and much later than WoW). Also, shadowstep appeared in a lot of other games too. The first (PC) game I know featuring shadowdancer is Neverwinter Nights, though I doubt it was first one anyway.

On a related topic - Horrors:
First seen as an RPG monster class, I think, in the Earthdawn series, where they're so powerful you're not really supposed to defeat them.
They reappear in the multiplayer strategy game series Dominions, where they're so hilariously overpowered they eat gods for breakfast. I mean, the Olympian or Cthulhian kind-of-god - yeah, that's the sort of character you play in Dominions. I always wondered if Cthulhu tasted more like fish or squid?
And now, in ToME, they're the most feared monster class of all.
Do I see a trend here?

I'd just been wondering where Dominions' horrors were drawn from. Thanks for the info.
Now how did we get here again?
