Wrong character on load screen.

I was playing as a level 27 oozemancer and right after I exited a level to the world (I watched it save), I exited the game to take a short break. Once I fired the game back up however, my oozemancer was level 17 and I had lost a few hours of gameplay. I can go to my online profile and see my level 27 there, but it won't show up in the load screen. What is going on here?
