ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I started using the steamtech UI and it seems to make the game run very...slowly. Instead of being completely smooth, turns take time to process. Auto-explore in particular takes several times longer than it typically does. Is this just something that comes with the UI, or is something weird going on on my end?

I thought it was the steamtech UI since I used it on my new game, but it actually appears to be related to "Classic" vs "Minimalist" UI. Classic UI runs poorly, minimalist UI does not.

Improved performance was one of the reasons the minimalist UI was developed in the first place.

That is unfortunate, as I somewhat like the classic UI better.
