ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

so after updating to the latest version the dialog box for character creation does not come up when i select new game. i have download it multiple times now and even purchased it through steam and downloaded it that way too. and the old versions when i redownloaded automatically try to update to the new version so i cannot even play the old version. what can i do to fix this?

Edit: prt screen is not capturing the shot.

here is what happens. when i select start new game it goes to a screen that has the version of the tome game in a column in the left. this screen is labeled start new game or something to that effect. when i select the only version of the game in that screen it goes to the title page (the one with the graphic of the wizard about to get ambushed) the progress bar at the bottom goes to 100 percent but the character generation screen never comes up. so i am stuck with the title screen.

Two things to check: disable all your addons
If this doesnt work remove the file:
c:/users/FOO/t-engine/4.0/tome/save/world.teaw

thanks i will try those suggestions.

When the game stops at that point and doesn't go any further, you can usually find an error at the bottom of the te4_log.txt file that's generated in the same directory that your exe is in. If DG's suggestions don't fix it, post the error block that you find there.

Keep this is mind for the future, as addon conflicts can show up in this way.

that did it. i will add the downloads one at a time to see which one or ones caused the problem. thank you!
