ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

My base healing is now only 50%. I took off all my gear and cancelled all my spells. I'm still at only 50% healing. I put all my gear on and now I'm at 85% healing and that's because I'm using the "Tree of Life" (i.e. +25% healing). I'm a dwarf, Sun Paladin level 41. My regeneration is 9.75 naturally. I'm wearing several completed sets of items (Kroltar Helm/Armor, Dawn's edge/Lite, Mighty Girdle/Gloves) and two "special - $4k items" from the merchant. I was wearing the Eternal Night set (Crown/Armor) and my healing seemed fine, but when I swapped gear I think the problem started... but I'm not sure.

Any suggestions?

(I made screen shots, but my dual monitor setup screwed my jpgs and I'm not redoing them.)

How come my armor/defense doesn't add up properly? It's about 20+/- points off. Is it calculating correctly?

Have you picked up and artifact gem called Goedalath Rock? If so, examine it.
If not, something has gone wrong somewhere.

Defense uses the diminishing returns scaling that powers and saves use, so that would make it not seem right. Armour doesn't use that scaling. Perhaps you tried to apply the armour mastery effect to all sources of armour when it only applies to the body armour slot?

So... here's the next dumb question. How do I use the rock, in rings and amulets? What about armor?

There's a guy in Gates of Morning who can put the gem in a blank Ring. If you do the Valley of the Moon quest, he can put two gems in a blank Amulet.

The gem store in Angolwen can also do the ring for you.

If you have access to Spell / Stone Alchemy (from an escort or from being an Alchemist), you may be able to put it in your armor, if you've built up the Imbue talent.
