ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

So there I was, my lvl 31 Bulwark slime killing like a pro. Then I got pushed off, surrounded by slime, and spent ages trying to clear a way back to the stairs. Finally got there... and got pushed off again and surrounded by boss level slimes and their offspring.

Had a few very close calls with death, and then remembered my rod of recall. In those forty turns waiting, the tides turned and I killed off the two worst slime lords that were doing most of the damage to me.

I've been in there quite awhile, long enough to pop an achievement I didn't even know existed.

So. Question.... should I go back in? Or is that suicide? I wanted to get to the next level, assuming there is a next level, but it feels like the slimes will just endlessly ramp up in level till I'm dogmeat. Or are they capped?

OCD says go back in and clear them out!
Logic says... you survived, never go back.

From my limited but harried experience: don't go back with this character. It just keeps getting worse.

Wait to go for the next level with the next character the zone spawns for. Don't stop to kill every slime—run for the stairs down.

Yeah if you want the unlock then do not engage the slimes, just run to kill the boss in the small basement and then run away.

I didn't know what the zone was when I first went in. When I saw the walls spawning, I figured, heck, I'll stick around and see if I can clear the whole level.

I went back in and (safely) hit the rod of recall as my first move. Movement infusion kept me alive. Not planning on going back in until I'm far more powerful.

I think I might be able to get to the next level via movement infusion... but one wrong turn...

Not much I've met can harm my lvl 31 bulwark. Those slimes can. Or at least, some of them can, while the rest surround me 3 layers thick.

Fantastic level, really easy to imagine my character being stuck in a slime hell.

if you really want oozemancer unlock you can venture again trying random teleport till you get near the downstairs, corrupted oozemancer is easy to kill comparing to some of rare oozes who you meet, the level is probably already filled with rare slimes so simple running is kind of out of question. i'm not sure if it's possible to turn every wall in a slime but it's nearly impossible anyway, there is an achievement for 500 spawned slimes and they spawn worser and worser...

Think someone mentioned a while ago that they managed to clear all the slimes.
