Addons menu question

There are three options for an addon in the in-game menu. Auto: Enabled, Manual: Enabled, and Manual: Disabled. I would assume that setting it to manual keeps the steam workshop from automatically replacing it? Or is that not the case and I shouldn't use the workshop because they'll always automatically update and potentially break some characters?

Auto turns the addon on or off depending on the version numbers of the addons compared to the module version.
It has no effect on Steam downloading things.

It actually does not do that.

The addon version number has no effect that I can detect. Both larger and smaller version numbers will be automatically loaded.

I think it does, actually. My old 0.92.whatever addons refuse to load on auto.

My 1.1.6 addons do load in 1.1.5, and so do other people's 1.0.4 addons.

Someone should read the code, guessing won't help, nor will assuming that it does something at all... it might be a planned feature which isn't implemented yet, like the Possession tree.

Well until I get confirmation, it's probably best to avoid using the workshop to keep my characters safe from spontaneous addon pdates.

Its a fairly rare occurrence that is fixed in 1.2
