ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I tried to transfer my character between PCs by following the FAQ. When I go to load game, it shows the character as a level 15 character (ie. it appears to be successfully transferred), but after clicking on play, it goes straight to the create a new character page. Is this working as intended?

I just copied the whole folder with saves to a new computer. Worked wonders. Changed the OS too, so it definitely can be done.

I had a similar problem with importing a character from a previous version of ToME (same computer) -dropped me right to the "new game screen". I suspected a special character in the name - ä, but who knows. On the other hand transfering between computers always worked fine for me back when I was doing that.
