so i assume that when casting a physical spell, it only checks the physical resistance of the target, and not the armor?

when mousing over armor in the character sheet, it states that it blocks melee and ranged physical attacks. Personally id call a spell a ranged attack of sorts, but i can understand if ranged is supposed to mean arrows and sling shots etc., just need some clarification here.

You've got it right. Ranged attacks are slings and arrows.

It should say melee and ranged weapon attacks, as it can block non physical damage cause by weapons.
