Disabling eyesores

Just unlocked the Wyrmic class and would like to know what options I have to change to make it so that lightning speed doesn't produce an overlay that makes me want to claw my eyes out.

Haven't seen that, but I guess you're playing with Graphical UI, so try oldschool ASCII UI?

That happened a lot to me while playing a Solipsists. The UI would go grey with a cloud-like effect. It happened once with my Summoner as well, though clear with a blue outline when an enemy went invisible/stealthed yet spotted. I'm using my own UI addon, but I don't touch the shaders at all.
