How to tweak the UI?

1) I am playing in 1680x1050 (16:10) and even with the default 1 row height "talents bar" at the bottom, it sometimes covers about half my lowest tile on the map. Sucky when in a map where the character is at the bottom-most tile/tunnel.
Is there a setting for this?

2) I'd like to use 2 row height instead to see more skills/talents without pgup/pgdn.
Is there any setting to tweak so that the map will not get covered when I raise the height?

That's on my list to do for my current addon, but I haven't gotten deep into it yet. I took a quick peek, but what I tried didn't work.

Cool, waiting for the good news :D

I'm a programmer by training and profession, but too lazy to dig into the game's code.

In the bottom left of the screen, you should see a button to unlock the UI. You can click on that, then resize the hotkey bar until you can see two rows (which should be plenty).

That doesn't change how the map underneath changes though. If your character is at the bottom of the map, it can end up under the bar. You then have to shift-drag to click down there.

The default HUD ("head's up display") is "Minimalist" and it gleefully covers the map with its hovering UI elements.

There's an alternative HUD in the Game Options dialog called "Classic" which does not allow UI elements to overlap the map.

I hadn't used Classic enough to notice. I'll have to steal some code out of that.
