Reflection rune...

It says in the shop "… absorb and reflect up to 178 over 5 turns…" but when I buy it and use it, it says it only absorbs 139. What's the deal? Is that a bug or what?
The shield depends on your magic.
So if your stats changed (with equipment) that may explain.
