ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Well, I thought I'm getting the hang of chosing equipment, but this game presents so much stuff for you I just got confused again. Here's four daggers to choose from, which two are better and why?

PS: Also, is it right that the bigger part of "power" statistic has no meaning, and you can just compare by lower part? I've read that somewhere...
PSS: Also, am I correct to assume that, in case of the warbringer (purple dagger), the top "Armor penetration" value works only on the dagger itself (and talents performed with it), and bottom works on all my attacks?

Lower part is the added bonuses. I always look the bigger picture comparing both upper and lower stats.
Iirc, when the armor penetration is presented like that I'm pretty sure they both act the same giving you a global penetration. There are some daggers that give benefit to only the dagger in question in which case it tells you so.

Out of those daggers I would pick the ones on the right just because of the added damage bonus.

Anything listed under "When wielded/worn" applies globally to the character. In the case of the warbringer's dagger, it has 6 base armor penetration, then adds another 5 to itself and your other weapon.

Fun thing is, after I asked this, I stumbled upon that big circular city randomly... and it sells like 2x more powerful daggers O_o

Well, you're probably over-thinking this a bit, to be honest. Many players do, I myself have a pack-rat mentality where I hang on to mediocre gear "just in case" and then never ever use it! There's nothing really to make any of the 4 daggers you showed us stand out enough to worry too much about. When you get one of the nice artifact daggers, then it'll be pretty obvious it's what you should be using! If you get to the point that you have money to burn, and are missing something really nice in a particular equipment slot, then sure, go shopping. But until then I would recommend just crossing your fingers for good boss drops.

Well I'm rather asking for opinions because I want to learn how the game works... which stats are better, which are worse...

Go the bottom two.

The top left offers little. As a rogue maxing Dex you should have great accuracy anyway.

The top right appears to do better base damage than bottom left but thats not taking into account bottom lefts armor penetration. Bottom left also boosts crits. I'm not sure exactly what the 25% chance on hit to splash acid does.

Bottom right is the no brainer because its obviously better than the two top daggers.

Generally I agree, but the defense on the top left could push you over 20 more than your opponents, especially with the acid splash from top right (reduces attack and... armor?)

Still, I'd also go with the bottom ones, they're certainly better against enemies where it counts.

Last Hope, the circular city has the second highest quality items. Zigur, the antimagic capital has the highest.. or was it the other way around.
