How does Aegis work with Disruption shield? It seems to just raise mana cap for 5 turns. Is it intended behaviour?

Yes. Since Disruption Shield detonates when your mana's full, your mana cap effectively is its damage capacity. By raising max mana, Aegis lets Disruption Shield absorb more damage.
