Wildfire: Self-damage and cleansing effect

So, I've sometimes seen a bit of confusion relating to how the negative status effect removal of cleasing flames and I have a question about that myself.

First of all, I can confirm that the negative status effect removal indeed kicks in even when you have a shield up. So you don't have to take HP damage for status cleansing.

But do you have to be able to take at least some damage? In other words, if wildfire mastery is high enough that you will get 100 % reduced self-induced fire damage then will the effect kick in at all? This is very relevant for my character who currently has 98 % self-damage reduction via Molten Skin. With Tome of Wildfire that percent would reach 100 % and I'm not sure whether I should read it or not (I most likely won't if it blocks status cleansing).

Thanks in advance.

No, merely suffering the damage is enough, not being vulnerable to it.

Sorry, I'm not sure if I understood your response correctly:

So it does not matter at all whether the my wildfire has 99 % or 100 % self-induced fire damage reduction? Hence it would be stupid not to read the tome?

Thanks, that feels like the way it should be.

But it seems that disruption shield stops the cleansing effects, since you in effect never take damage.
