so how to unlock it? do i need a certain klass race lvl to unlock it? xP

You need to counter attack from range. Thought I saw DG mention it was 5 tiles somewhere, but I don't remember right now.

I did it on a bulwark in the Derth Arena. Blocked the halflings sling attack and then shot him back. But might be easier on a different class. I had to train slings at Last Hope.

An easy and cheap way to do this is with a temporal warden.

That can't be right. I'm failing to unlock with range 5 wave of power. Does it have to specifically be a ranged weapon attack, not a projected melee weapon attack maybe?

Worked for me with a sun paladin, Path of the Sun, and a weapon of projection...

I thought it was more than 5 tiles.

Could be. I had range-5 PotS, so critter was 6 tiles away...

Thank you very much. I used Temporal Warden and successfully unlocked Skirmisher.

Sorry for digging this up, but it seemed the appropriate thread and I didn't want to start a new one...
I tried this against the halfling in the arena, using a sling archer with a shield. I didn't attack him, just danced around at distance, trying to time the block to catch a bullet. After a few failed attempts I managed to get him on "counterstrike" and shot him with standard attack. Nothing. Tried again, this time uses "look" to count distance: there were 5 blank fields between us, so I'm thinking, distance was more than 5 => nothing. I tried again, same distance, using Steady Shot... nothing.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong here?

i unlocked my skirmisher by equipping (old) temporal warden with a shield.
when i managed to block someone in melee, i used instant cast disengage that tw has to gain range, and then used some temporal lightning step to trigger it.

the you have to attack an enemy who has the "counterstriking" debuff, from a distance of 5 (not sure if more is allowed).
it doesn't matter what weapon you use, or at what distance you apply it.
also, with riposte talent, it lasts more than 1 turn. that means you do not have to pop it instantly.
also, pretty sure it is not necesary to use weapons. spells and other talents should work too.

way of the bulwark (or a cornzerker)
find yourself a jelly, mold or a plant, stand next to it, block until it is triggered counterstriking.
disengage to gain range, and rush to do the job.
if it can't be more than 5, then better pay attention to your disengage

path of the sun pal
1) be a shield pal.
2) have path of the sun.
3) stand next to an immobile enemy
4) cast path of the sun AWAY from it.
5) use shield.
6) if your enemy triggered the cs, walk maximum distance, and sunstrike it.
while walking the path, no time passes, meaning you can get the distance without CS ticking down. as long as you stay on the path.

otherwise you just camp some skeletal archers.
if you haeve the right type of a shield, you can also try some mages.

there are 2 enemies, guaranteed to try and spit at you.
one is a plant, and the other is a type of a slime.
stand the right distance away, block until you get the desired effect.
then, rush.

if none of the above works, you can always try editing the file.

You can also just wield a shield and sling on any class and block archers. You can buy the shoot talent from Lost Hope.

getting shot in last hope is too obvious, so i wanted to write something other than that.
the person writing above said that he was already using a sling.

If you wanna be lazy, you can always just play the game and let the enemy unlock it for you. If that hasn't been fixed, that is.
