So, long story short - you can't obtain Tinkers on non-tinker character in Infinite Dungeon mode, although tinker escort spawns (it drops the same dialogue afterwards, like "shows location on the north", but there's no tinker cave on the level nor on further ones) and you by default see schematics drops.

AAA's won't teach you (they can only be sent to Kruk Pride);
Tinker shops which would teach tinkers for gold don't spawn (based on my observations of about 100 levels of ID).

I find ID mode very interesting (especially with Infinite500 addon), but lack tinkers for the true experience.
Is there kind soul who could make an addon or to fix the current behaviour (@darkgod, in 1.6 maybe?) I see addon that would make any character starting with locked tinkers trees at 1.0 and that unlocking one tree would automatically unlock the second one and stealing 500 gold from you (so that it works as escort thing).

Hmm… following the principle of least change, perhaps we could modify the tinker escort quest reward to give the player a device that creates a portal to the Steam Quarry (or perhaps teleports the player there itself)?

[Now, bear in mind that coding and testing this may take a while — not least because the last time I tried Infinite Dungeon was a pre-1.0 beta version. And because I keep EoR turned off for non-tinker characters, so I've never actually encountered the tinker escort. And because the Steam Quarry apparently has a min level of 30. So, yeah. Any recommendations for a good race/class for Infinite Dungeon? ]
