ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

So I hate having my sustains killed and then as soon as I laboriously go put them back on, they get knocked off again and again right away, so I put on the resustain addon, but where is it? how do I use it, probably being stupid but yeah.

and what I mean is I have a game in progress and I added 'resustain' in the list of addons just like it appears in a new game desc.lua.

not being able to add a simple addon to an existing character just sucks, and if it is typed there shouldnt it load it? in which case, where do I find how to use it? or is there some other place I have to type in the addon? I did not see it in the game file for the player, or where is it?

(or tell me how to hack my game so sustains cant be killed because this just really sucks having to keep doing this. oh, and dying kills the sustains too which totally sucks, so I was really hoping this addon would solve this!)

You can use the in-game auto-use functionality to restart sustains. m key menu by the default bindings, right click on the talent, set it to auto-use when desired -- I usually put sustains to when no enemy is visible if they're not instant, always if they are. If the addon you're talking about is this one, you'll note in the description that the default binding for its functionality is alt+shift+s, if it's installed and working.

As for installing it to an existing save, make sure you're using the right name and following the instructions for doing so appropriately. You can find at least one description of that here. Note that when you edit the file is important, apparently. I've never actually tried to activate an addon for an existing save, so YMMV.

Thanks a lot, I think I thought the addon was going to prompt me itself when they disable or I didnt hit the buttons in correct sequence, takes a few tries sometimes, (pays to remember things properly...), but I was able to bring the sustains addon up with this now.

editing the desc file at the specific time, not sure what "using Steam, the edit may not take. To help this along, turn off cloud backups for ToME" means, but mine did not over-write what I added when the game was off, so its still there and seems to have taken.
