Addon contest 2014: Shatur!

I've been turning over several ideas in my head and they've coalesced into a plan for the addon competition. I will introduce two quests and two classes... sill in rough draft stage, here's a current brain dump:

QUESTS

Poacher's in the Elfwood!
Poachers have discovered an ancient grove of elfwood trees. The right piece of wood is worth its weight in gold to a mage, and the intruders are ruthlessly harvesting some of the oldest and most revered trees. The wrathful trees are striking out against anything on two legs and if the situation isn't dealt with then the entire forest may soon be up in arms. Players will fight their way through the poachers and plants and animals until they confront the Rhaloren mastermind behind the raid. They will have the option of killing him or siding with him and killing the enraged dryad who has been stirring the trees to action.

Thaloran characters will receive quest from town NPC, non-Thaloran will learn about it from note in Rhaloran camp.

The Heart of Eyal
For millenia the Temple of Creation rested below the waves, but recently (geologically speaking) it has stirred. Such powerful and profound energies cannot be disturbed without consequence. On the opposite side of the world, a cavernous expanse of nascent mindstars pulsed in resonance as they were bathed in the surge of power from the temple and finally, they woke.

Zone will be similar to crystal caverns but will feature living mindstars instead of the typical crystals.

Thaloran characters receive quest from mindstar merchant, Non-Thaloran receive the quest from Slaasul

NEW CHARACTER OPTIONS

Living Mindstar
I'd like to integrate this with the crystal race from the New Gem Types addon by Jayseesee and Doctornull. The concept is for a character that has only multiple mindhand slots and the ability to imbue crystals. Starts with 4 mindhand slots. I'm also considering frontloading two of the category points.

Class
Race/Furious Echoes (locked) (bonus mindhand slot, unarmed crit mult/bladestorm aura like bladed horror/physical AoE blast/'throw' a weapon in inventory for massive damage, destroying it)
Race/Draconic Echoes (locked) (bonus mindhand slot, unarmed elemental damage/ flame/frost/lighting bolts that turn to lines then breaths with higher levels and scale with willpower)
Race/Vitriolic Echoes (locked) (bonus mindhand slot, unarmed accuracy/summon ooze/manaburn nature projectile, heal from arcane damage/acid splash)
Psionic/Absorption
Psionic/Grip
Wild/Moss

Generic
Race/Mindstar (adapted from race/crystal: will give movement (psychoportation and levitation), imbue crystals, armor, and stasis)
Race/Harmonious Echoes (locked) (bonus mindhand slot, unarmed armor pen+crit mult/ summon crystals/damage resonance, confusion resist+mental save/absorb mindstar from inventory to lower equilibrium
Race/Self Mastery (modified mindstar mastery to account for unarmed damage as mindstar source)
Wild/Antimagic (locked)

Dryad
Initially discussed here. The idea is that Dryads would be a manifestation of the collective unconscious of the trees... sort of like The Way for yeeks. Their lifebar will be practically non-existant, with 90% solipsism conversion to psi and a focus on feedback. They'll also have a few interesting equilibrium based talents...

Class
Race/Summon (plant) (locked) (summon flytrap/treant/rimewood/oozing horror (might reskin, depending on lore)
Race/Tulpa- buffs based off thoughtform bonuses (passive attribute buff to str/dex/con, equilibrium test at 0 health to nullify damage and raise shield/ Ranks in Lucid Dreaming, Psychometry / 'surrender to nature', AI takes control of character w/large buffs, similar to shadow veil / gain feedback from damage to summons
Technique/Two-Handed Maiming
Technique/Combat Techniques
Psionic/Discharge
Psionic/Solipsism (first skill set to 90% conversion, further ranks will improve dismissed damage)

Generic
Technique/Staff Combat (from Null's Ascetic, I think)
Race/Avatar (sets solipsism damage-psi conversion to 90%, gives bonus psi/improve AM shield, less EQ/move through tree tiles, fire resist, heal from light damage/increased resistance penetration when above 100 feedback, resurrect at 5th rank)
Race/Primordial Forest - each skill unlocks hidden properties of artifacts
"Memories of Haze" - physical resist and fire resist, bonus feedback from physical/fire damage
"Memories of Allure" - 'purify' staves change them to nature/mindpower based weapons
"Memories of Dusk" - Add disease/poison to meele damage, disease/poison resistance
"Memories of Pyre" - Arcane resistance, bonus damage to humanoids
Psionic/Voracity
Psionic/Feedback

Without spoiling what, I'm working on something for Shatur.

As for your two, the poachers one seems interesting. Got no real opinion on the Heart one.

loimprevisto: I'm rather intrigued by a living mindstar... Although that isn't the focus...

As for the quests, my biggest question is... Why a Rhaloren?

After that question... What level ranges are you expecting?

Glad to see Shatur getting some more attention! This is a very, very rough draft with no lore or quest dialogue fleshed out... I hope the living mindstar cavern will sound more interesting as I move it from my head to paper.

The living mindstar is certainly a focus... I've had several addon ideas in mind for a while and this seemed a good opportunity to tie them all together. I'd initially considered casting human or halfling lumberjacks as the poachers, but Rhaloren seemed a better fit. They're preparing for a large-scale action and will need funding and weapons (elf-wood staves) to make it happen; they put together a raid into the Thaloran woods with the intent of keeping the best pieces for themselves and selling the rest.

After too many Nightmare characters, I've lost all sense of what the proper level range is for a zone. They'll probably be T2 zones.

Now THIS is one add-on that makes me antsy in my pants. Be it either my love for mindstars or something else but I'm definitely looking forward to this.

Ouch! That's more than a handful. I get busy enough with just one, but at least you got those mindhand slots to help you with diaper duty. :p
