The Battle of Old Forest

"As you walk into the old forest, you notice chaos.
Groves of living trees, fighting against armies of crystals.

As soon as you enter, you are approached by the protector of the old forest himself, Wrathroot.
He is battered and beaten, and he asks for your aid.

Combine your powers with Wrathroot, and destroy the crystal threat from Old Forest. Once and for all."

This addon changes both the normal and alternate old forest, into the tale of Wrathroot vs Shardskin.
As Shardskin's description implied in the vanilla game, he was able to strait up destroy Wrathroot with little trouble on his own.

This time, you're here to change that.

Keep in mind, Shardskin himself, is stronger than his vanilla counterpart. (No, I'm not kidding.)
You will need to work together with Wrathroot, if you wish to stand a chance.

Note: You may find packs of Snakes and Canines. I thought it better to leave them in, than change them ALL to crystals.
For... pretty obvious reasons.

Note2: Some computers may lag. I cannot stop this, without toning down, extremely, on the amount of units on the map.
The lag should slow down after a while.

Note3: You will have a lua error upon attempting to re-enter the first area of the map. This will not cause any negative effects on your game.

Note4: Wrathroot has lost most of his ice powers.
Gameplay reason: They would hit you, causing issues.
Instead, he has gained potent melee power, and the ability to summon a few allies to aid him.
Get him next to Shardskin, and he'll dig in.

I mentioned wishing I could see a fight between armies we got to help in ingame once... Did you run with the idea? Or is this a coincidence? :D

Well... this is honestly less of an army vs army fight, and more of a glorified escort mission.
Like, I tried to make Shardskin too long of a fight to be easy to do solo.
The old forest layout isn't really good at it, as if I were to push up the numbers, you'd just get more lag off-screen, due to how it spawns the open areas.

If I wanted to try a giant army v army one, I'd try, say, Prox and Shax standing up to Bill, or something, as the Trollmire map is fairly open.

I didnt want to add a quest, in fear of messing with the main story quest line, but I'll give it a go.

Changed reward item... again... this time it's one treeant, who is extremely durable.

Added a quest-line + intro text.
Removed drops from Wrathroot. (For any evil people who wanted him dead for double loot.)

Wrathroot Given a weapon, so that he actually... does... things... (My bad about this.)

Shardskin Given 2 new talents for you to 'play' with.

Boss Summon amounts increased, to help the feeling of a 'battle.'

Uploaded a test version, designed to make the map playable on older computers at a better framerate.

This makes use of the way Subject Z waits until the players comes in sight, and stops all enemies from moving, until seen by the player.
While not perfect, I hope it makes an effect on people who run ToME on older computers.

Due to issues involving honey trees not summoning, I'm reverting the last two patches.
This means you may notice additional lag.

However, the tanky changes have been carried over.

Afraid you'll find a good chunk of the fighting going on off-screen, though I've always found 4 or 5 good fights to intervene in.

However, the fight against Shardy has felt great so far, in my tests.

So, due to an extremely major (and obvious) bug involving Wrathroot, I have deleted and invalidated all previous versions of the addon.
If you had your installed on a previous character, simply update, and it will correctly validate.
