ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I'm happy to report my third normal win, under ideal circumstances. The first time I saw one of the "black" set items, I wanted to put them all together. And ever since I saw the Ogre's ability to wield a 2 handed weapon in one hand, I dreamed of being able to play an Ogre Wyrmic to be able to tap into both the 2H and Shield talents, as well as hyper-buffing all the dragon talents that do % weapon damage.

It took a couple dozen tries (the opening 8 levels are brutal with this build), but I managed to smash my way to a win. After the opening 8 levels this was easily the strongest character I've played, and once I equipped my "black" set I was basically unstoppable. My max hit was something like 2,400, which was nearly twice my previous max. I also got the tinker escort quest, which let me stack immunity to most effects. (I really wanted to work anti-magic into the build, but I lost a guy at 37 because I just couldn't manage equilibrium with anti-magic).

I will say this, though: Lightning Speed + Shoes of Moving Quickly is absolutely silly.

You wouldn't have been able to equip any of the black set items if you had gone antimagic, so be glad you didn't end up doing that

dang, you didn't luck into the maul and plate as well? those are legitimately amazing items

I used the black plate from like level 16 to 40. But I never got the maul, which makes me so sad.
