ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

So i picked open a wall and was greeted by Greater Multi-hued Wyrm.... On lvl 2 of Dreadfall. Insta-smashed.

Dreadfell vaults, man.

Just Say No.

You could have Phase Door runed out! Or Icewalled them in and ran.

Why would you even open a Dreadfell vault at level 20???

Those diggable vaults in there seem to often have them multihued wyrms. I've seen them twice there and both times in a similar vault.

Once there were even two of them. Foolhardy as I was I had to beat them.. and I did. Loot wasn't worth it.

That vault always contains at least 2 or 3 greater multi-hued wyrms. There is no safety.

I guess the best answer is i didn't know the deadfall vaults contained such massive enemies. I did try to phase door but it went poorly(I was still in range). I mostly just saw some rooms with loot and wanted to get it, I wasn't expecting lvl 50s.

Vault monsters are usually 20-30 levels above the usual level for the area.

So it isn't uncommon for 2 level 55 greater multihued wyrms in one room, and two more from two other rooms? I thought I was just really unlucky.

I got 3 multi-hued wyrms in that vault and I think that's pretty normal.

(Felt very lucky at the time, as that alchemical ingredient was one I needed.)

That vault is hard coded. Those particular rooms always have multi-hued wyrms. The other rooms are random, but those ones are rigged.

Basically, skip the boxes vault.

It's easily recognized, the loot is terrible relative to the work, and the ends have MHWs in them.

(If you really know the vault, or have a scouting option, you can tell where the dragons will be. This makes the vault pretty easy. I still skip it, though, it's too much digging...)

Just did the vault myself today and the dragons were in the same box as before. After digging I got the first move so with movement infusion escaping was trivial.
