Grimm Darkley the Dwarf Temporal Warden (First winner)

Woohoo! My first time beating the game! Spoilers will folow:

For this character, I wanted to build him differently than my other, failed Temporal Wardens. I had previously just chosen whatever items I thought were best for my character, trying for a hybrid of high damage and good defense. For this one, I wanted to focus on survivability. So I chose mostly defensive talents at first, and preferred lots of sustains to activated talents. I also favored healing modifier items and healing talents. With my high spellpower I could use a 423 healing rune, 183 healing light talent, and 368 healing amulet (not including modifiers) with cooldowns of 12, 10, and 80, respectively. I also had a (very-useful) instant-cast shield rune at 628 for 7 turns, cooldown 23. In addition to all of that, I had the talent Barrier, 191 damage for 10 turns, cooldown 15. The positive energy healing talent tree was invaluable for me. I used Providence with a Jack-of-all-Trades wild infusion to help with debuffs. My high saves allowed me to avoid most of them though. My last infusion was a sun infusion to light up areas of interest and to blind rooms, though I often forgot I had it.

All together, tough enemies would have to deal with Dwarven Resilience + Stoneskin (50+ armor bonus with my nice 90% hardiness), Premonition, Elemental Harmony, 120+ defense, good resists + a wild infusion resist all bonus, a displacement shield, 1500+ health, tons of healing possibilities, etc. etc. Still, things did get tough fairly often with some enemies. Dreadmasters could cripple me like none other.

All of the dungeons were relatively easy because of that and because of my high mobility. I could use any combination of swap, dimensional step, and temporal wake to get away really fast from all situations except vaults. The high speed also let me back up and shoot enemies full of arrows to soften them up.

The hardest fight I had was probably the Dragon Slayer at Daikara (damn rush!) and Atamathon. Unfortunately, in the case of the latter, I had seen a post calling him a pushover... He took two of my lives. A unique Runed Bone Giant (I think Archmage/Fighter) at High Peak, an a unique Dredge (Paradox Mage/Archmage) take the prize for most annoying fights, due to their permanent invisibility or stealth and super-high armor/defence/resists. :?

As for lives, in the interest of full disclosure, I did save cheat up until level 35. This was my first character to get far, and my reasoning was that I was still learning the game. I plan to tone back on the save cheating with subsequent characters until I know the game well enough to eliminate it completely. I lost two lives to Atamathon, two in Grushnak pride to hordes of elite berserkers, and one very early in the game to an adventurer party. I think I was level 20-something. When I won, I had one life, the Blood of Life, and the Ring of Death.

As for thoughts on the ending, I'm not sure what was going on, exactly. I didn't see the Sorcerors at the Charred Scar, I had no idea "they were supposed to be doing good", though apparently my character thought as much. I didn't know they were from Angolwen until I read their descriptions. Was the Creator supposed to be Eidolon? That would be very interesting, but it all came out of nowhere... I managed to keep Aeryn alive though!

[Now I just need to figure out how to get back to the main map without the game crashing :lol: ]
