Close but no cigar. After fighting for hours and hours (game performance on High Peak is really horrible) Elandar and Hal decided it was enough and decided on a draw. Elandar's runes/infusions (regen, shield, wild, and a very low CD phase door) combined with some innate healing abilities were just too much to outdamage even with a maximized conduit. Couldnt get him lower than 64% and even that only happened when he PD-ed right next to me by accident. Elandar couldt get through Hal's superior defense either.
This was the only fight in which I felt the randomness of bosses having runes/infusions was unfair. On the whole I feel improved monster/boss AI is a good thing. There were a few tough fights but at least there was always some hidden tactic to outsmart the boss. I might have missed something in the end fight ofcourse, who knows....
Oh well, on to b20b. Still no win, but at least I got my first draw

I experienced exactly the same.
Try using 2 controlled phase door runes to keep up.

Well done getting there:)
And yes in b20 bosses can not get teleport/phase runes, they only get their natural teleport spells if they have any

Thanks DG! I think that will do the trick, biggest problem indeed wasnt Elandar being able to shield/heal/regen whatever but being able to PD extremely often. I'm not sure if I understand it correctly, but I added a snippet from stdout which seems to suggest he could PD every 3 seconds, in addition to shield every 5 sec, regen every 6, wild every sec etc. Then again I might misinterpret the numbers behind the AI talents. But it certainly looked like he had most of his stuff working every time I looked at him. That is fair enough, as I did the same
Code: Select all
============================== TACTICAL AI Elandar
Elandar 221 tactical ai talents can use Rune: Phase Door T_RUNE:_PHASE_DOOR_3 escape
Elandar 221 tactical ai talents can use Twilight Surge T_TWILIGHT_SURGE attackarea
Elandar 221 tactical ai talents can use Rune: Shielding T_RUNE:_SHIELDING_5 defend
Elandar 221 tactical ai talents can use Metaflow T_METAFLOW buff
Elandar 221 tactical ai talents can use Infusion: Movement T_INFUSION:_MOVEMENT_4 defend
Elandar 221 tactical ai talents can use Infusion: Regeneration T_INFUSION:_REGENERATION_6 heal
Elandar 221 tactical ai talents can use Heal T_HEAL heal
Elandar 221 tactical ai talents can use Infusion: Wild T_INFUSION:_WILD_1 defend
Elandar 221 tactical ai talents can use Regeneration T_REGENERATION heal
@Dekar: Nice, I didnt even realize there already was a mindslayer win, grats!

Adding another controlled PD wouldnt help me enough I'm afraid. The problem wasnt that I couldnt PD/Mind Hook/Superhuman Leap often enough. By the time I had figured out where he was usually at least 2 of those were ready again. The main trouble was that I lacked permanent ways of detecting where he PD-ed to fast and often enough. I foolishly ditched all my vision runes and didnt invest enough in detection build options, though I doubt it wouldve been enough. The few times I tried my Wand of Detection succesfully showed that by the time I had moved within PD/Leap range he was already gone into the darkness again. The Mindslayer's obvious lack of crowd control doesnt help either: no stuns and thermal leech's freeze effect doesnt prevent PD.
The only thing I havent really tried yet is using the speed runes to try and do more damage the few times I'm close enough. And now that I think about it, I havent tried to use some other weapon yet, for instance the elemental greatsword of massacre + the 2 massacre rings. It might be worth a try, though ATM i cant make myself invest more hours of High Peak lag

Maybe later....

He teleported away roughly every 8-10 turns for me if I remember correctly. If he really got such a low cooldown rune I can imagine how hard it must be.
