ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I have great fun playing cornac shield berzerkers. Using 2 talent points to have 1.1 in shields so i can gain stun immunity with a shield. Main stats are strength and dexterity. Dexterity is useful in this build because: it affects defense (shield wall), critical hits and hit chance (precise strikes), ...

Since i use a shield i can not use a two-handed weapon so no berzerking, death dance, ... In fact the character is nearly exclusivly using normal attacks. Being a high defense character i put 2 pearl rings to have 20% to resist all and try to optimize my equipment for resistances.

I also got used to unstoppable to fight mages.

Not the normal berzerker, but it is a nice character to unlock the classes in b18 again.

But it is stupid, even it is my third shield berzerker, i always think that i could do better: this time i 'wasted' talent points. 2 in shields (second point to lower need for this ring which boosts all combat by 0.1), 1 in blood, but 1 in antimagic (to get a better resolve). I think the one in antimagic would have been better for another teleport/phase door.

Suffering from a hand surgery i like to be able to play mainly with normal attacks. And so far it is my best attempt in doing so.

An interesting build, but it does seems to waste a lot of category points. Basically you're a fighter with Unstoppable? Not so bad :)

Another good char for attack-only is the Arcane Blade. Invest points in the passives and sustains, pump Flame to max (don't bother with Lightning), and have Frost Hands, Fiery Hands and Arcane Combat constantly switched on. Find a good slime weapon and you'll be laughing as enemies are scorched, frozen and slowed with every regular hit. The odd Stunning Blow and Flameshock still have their uses, but most enemies will die very quickly from regular melee.

Wait... what? Berserkers can get Shield Wall?!

Then why can't Wyrmics get it?

off topic for a sec... how do you even GET arcane blades? been looking all over the forums and cant find how to unlock it.

arcane blades are a fighter class, no unlock required

hmm guess that shows you how often i play warrior classes then.

My Arnhilta (old germanic for a warrioress who fights like an eagle, i was running out of names) is now level 44 and just finished opening the portals from east to west and from west to east. This Tannel tower: i had to delete a savefile and redo it because the stairs weren't there the first time. Found the trick in forum.

I set the infusions to 1 brawler healing and 2 times resists. Bloodbath does enough healing normally as long i have something to bash on.

From my limited playtime:
+The shield berserker has better defense and armour than the berzerker.
+The shield berserker has better healing (bloodbath) than the fighter.
-But it has the least damage of the 3. So a fight is often 50 strikes or more.

But it is fun to play.
