Yes, just finished with a Skeleton Archmage...

Now if I knew where (specifically) to put the Character dump code that Shani developed I could do a proper fancy dump

Code: Select all

Sex: Male
Race: Skeleton
Class: Archmage
Level: 33

Exp: 9%
Gold: 909.96

Life: 742/742
Stamina: 296/296
Mana: 404/404

STR: 37
DEX: 30
MAG: 59
WIL: 60
CUN: 36
CON: 30

Attack(Main Hand): 23
Damage(Main Hand): 67
APR (Main Hand): 5
Crit (Main Hand): 12%
Speed (Main Hand): 1.00

Spellpower: 120
Spell Crit: 20%
Spell Speed: 1

Arcane damage: 10%
Fire damage: 20%
Cold damage: 10%
Lightning damage: 10%
Acid damage: 29%

Fatigue: 22%
Armor: 23
Defense: 40
Ranged Defense: 40

Physical Resist: 23
Spell Resist: 36
Mental Resist: 31

Fire Resist: 20%
Nature Resist: 10%

Number of NPC killed: 2403
Most killed NPC: cold drake hatchling (177)

Made the decision to ignore the later fire based attacks, figuring they would be less than useless in the late game. I bought the armour school and invested 1 point in each of the armours and up to the late game it was useful.

At that point I started developing all the shields and defences I could and used the Silk robes I found. By the end it became a walk in the park although a little tight on mana & health potions which I never used until I got to Mt Doom. The boss at the end of that was a push over and went very quickly.

I complained in an earlier post about the Talent/Skill split, but having played it I find it was better than expected!

Right, now to try an archer!

Well done!

Mhh 120 is quite a lot of spellpower, I might need to tone that down.
Can you detail a bit more your stuff ?

Why did you think the later fire skills would be useless?
You have quite a lot of life too, you got the health talent I imagine? Maybe the gain from them needs to be dependant on CON ?

Why was it a walk in the park ?
What can be done to change it ?
Same for Fyrk

Seems to the the experience of most people ;)

Elven Staff, Spell-Power 26
Elemental Fury
Ring of Strength +5
Choker of Dread until I picked up Fiery Choker at the end
Black Robe
Steel Helm of Hammerhand
Frost Treads

I used the strategy of going for as much spell-power as I could, so I would sell/drop/eject any staff for another with higher spell-power. In this manner I dropped the Shades Staff, ignored the staff of Destruction (I had a staff with higher spell-power) and so on.

Mt Doom being Volcanic suggested I would see a lot of Fire resisting creatures I was right. You might want to mix it up a bit more here.

Yes. I managed to max my Health skill. I would suggest you stretch the Con requirement interval a bit I found it easy to max my CON sufficiently to get the extra 200 HP.

Having prepped I found that laying down Corrosive Vapour got rid of the Packs, the Elementals whilst they dealt a lot of damage were easily killed, the Dragons were tough but did not deal enough damage. Since Corrosive Vapour hangs around a bit, I used those moments to buff with potions.

Fyrk did no pursuing. I came through into the final chamber, ran away and buffed with potions, came back and shot him to pieces, it only took 3 or 4 shots.

Offensive spells (all maxed)
Manathrust
Flame
Lightning
Freeze
Corrosive Vapour

I did not need any other offensive spell, these were quite sufficient. I picked up Freeze in the mid-game and never really used it until Mt Doom, where of course it came into its own!

How did you keep your level so low before you went through Moria? My archmage was almost to level 40 by that time. I might post him later tonight.

on the other hand, I was wondering how you gained levels so quickly, even with grinding I am just a lvl 30 or 32 when I finish moria. even with non skeletal races.

I had a squeaky moment with the Master and I used Teleport for the first time then. It was the last time I had real trouble.

How can you wear Hammerhand?
My mages do not have access to combat training whatever their race.
