Agility / Vault often doesn't allow choosing target tile

When using the Technique / Agility: Vault talent from Archer, often it doesn't allow selecting the target tile.

When it doesn't work as the tooltip describes, it'll take one of two forms depending on topography:
If there is an open space next to the target enemy, the moment you chose the target enemy Vault strikes them (applying the daze) then places the player next to that enemy in an open tile.
If there isn't an open tile next to the enemy, Vault simply refuses to work at all.

About one-third of the time it actually works as the tool-tip describes:
First you select an adjacent target, then you select a tile within X tiles of the player to land on. Having made both selections it strikes the target and moves the player to the chosen tile.

I haven't managed to figure out what makes Vault "choose" to not work as the tooltip describes.

This belongs in Boards | ToME 4 | bugs rather than Boards | T-Engine 4 | bugs (I've made that mistake too!)

Looking at what you describe, those two thirds of the time, you're choosing your vault location and targeting the enemy. The talent then looks for an open space within range 1 of the designated square. If it finds one, it puts you there, next to the enemy. If it doesn't find one, it fails.

Check under Game Options | Gameplay and see if 'Quick melee targeting auto attack' is enabled. If so, then when there is only one valid target in melee range the first target will be auto-acquired and confirmed, so the first player-requested targeting is for the vault destination. I suspect this is what's messing things up for you.
