ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Ok, so yesterday I made my latest char and today I went to te4.org to view my char and it had 2 seperate listings which were saved like 12 minutes apart from each other. I'm not sure what caused this (maybe server probs?) as it's never happened to me before. All I did was made a char and played it until I got to clvl 9, then saved & exited and went to bed, went to the website the next morning and there was 2 listings.

lol, the first time I looked at mine, there were about 10 duplicates of my main save... it can happen if you crash at some point (ToME or the whole computer, power outage etc) in between when it updates the online profile, and when it actualy writes your save to the local harddisk... So then say 20 mins later when you recover from the crash/reboot/etc and load your character again, and enter a zone you entered before the 'abnormal exit', the online profile thinks that it's a different character now because one of the zones has a different ID or something like that (generated when the zone itself is first generated, AFAIK).

I could be wrong about some of this, but thankfully there's an easy solution - log into the wesite (te4.org instead of forums.te4.org) and just hit the X next to any older duplicates, leaving the most up-to-date one remaining Hope that helps!

k, thanks. that's what I was gonna do but I'm pretty sure the game never crashed or was closed improperly during the existence of that char because that char was only like 2 hours old...

Ok, so it's done this to me on the last 3 chars i've made now. One of them is actually listed 3 times on the website. I have not had any unexpected shutdowns or program closes while playing as any of these characters. I really think it has something to do with the chat server/profile connection. One thing I noticed when I made a char last night I was connected to chat for awhile without any problems then I stopped seeing any chat in the chat box and in the chat log. So after waiting for a little while hoping the chat would re-connect and catch up, I finally clicked save & exit and went back to the main menu where I clicked load game to re-load my char. Even after re-loading my char I was not connected to chat or at least I could still not see any chat in the chat box or chat log, and I still couldn't see anything that I typed in chat. So this time I clicked save & exit again to go to the main menu where I logged out of my online profile and then immediately logged back in. I then clicked on load game again and re-loaded my char again. This time I was connected to chat and could see chat both in the box and in the chat log. Now today when I go to "te4.org/users/godslayerx" there are 3 different copies of the char I was playing last night.
