ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

New member, love game...
Problem with performance. Beta 21 runs fine and smooth.
Recently downloaded Beta 24 and had to disable background on login screen and ToME game runs with extreme lag after entry.

Windows Vista, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5Ghz, 4GB Ram, NVidia GeForce 8600M GT

Not sure what you guys changed, but cpu tachs out and game is *almost* unenjoyable.

Any ideas?

Idea #1: The lag is a result of the actor-update bug where actors try to move around or pass turns for every turn you spent away from the area they're in.

Edit: Idea #2: Not sure what they changed, but the solve for a lot of people was to update their video card drivers. Could be there's a problem with whatever version you have.

Updating video card did not help, but thanks... I needed to update it and didn't realize.

Reducing the resolution to 800x600 seems to speed it up quite a bit,
so I think it would have to do with the video instead of the AI
(unless they are tied to resolution somehow, frame updated or something)

Still, I don't *see* any major enhancements to video (doesn't mean they aren't there),
so I don't know if any occurred between the two versions.

Did you try disabling various video/game options / trying to play with FPS ?
