A review of no_npc_use talents

I just reviewed all no_npc_use talents, this is a list of all `no_npc_use` talents and guessing reason why they appear in this list.

Talents that should never appear on NPC
  • Buggy on NPC: Produce too many bugs
  • Item Altering: Irreversibly affect an item, which should not be suitable for NPC, because you don't want it to destory your drop
  • Only player can use: NPC can't use it.
  • Split timeline: Split timeline won't act well for NPC.
Talents that is too strong / too weak for NPC
  • High burst damage: Really high burst damage that likely to 1hko player
  • Strong passive: High amount of passive bonus and can easily make the enemy too strong.
  • Extremely strong disable: Very good disable talent that make actor feeling pain.
  • Useless against player: This talent just does not work against player. It may affect player's summon though.
  • Useless on NPC: Does not work will for NPC.
  • Require killing: Requires killing some enemy to have effect, which should be nearly impossible for enemy NPC.
Talents that is too annoying
  • Annoying
  • Damage redirection: Likely to make player get killed by damage recoil without noticing what happened.
  • Terrain Altering: Affects the terrain, which is annoying to the player and can not be used smartly
  • Strange reposition: Cross wall repositioning, which is hard to write AI and make player feel they appear from nowhere
Talents that can be made more NPC-friendly if people love seeing this talent
  • Tracking talent: Enemy do not need to track, but some tracking talent will buff the enemy, so should we retain its status, or let enemy simply use them as a buff?
  • Need dialog: This talent generate a dialog, though it can be fixed to automatically choose one option for enemies
  • Need better AI: A good tactical table/function will fix it.
  • Need review: The power level of this talent needs some further review.
  • I don't know why: I don't known why this talent get banned, maybe this tag is added before some class revamp and somebody just forgot to delete this line, or the reason it get banned no longer pesent.
These are talents that I want to released from no_npc_use jail at most.

  • Foul Convergence: Need review Friend of the worm have bad damage output
  • Digest: Require killing
  • Suspend: Annoying
  • From Below It Devours: I don't know why
  • Take a Bite: I don't know why

  • Solidify Air: Terrain Altering
  • Vaporous Step: Need better AI
  • Inhale Vapours: Require Vaporous Step
  • Metaphasic Spin: Need dialog
  • Rocket Pod: Strong passive
  • Incendiary Powder and Lock On: Require Rocket Pod
  • Death From Above: Maybe Strong passive? Need review
  • Saw Wheels: Need review
  • Craftsman's Eye: Strong passive, but Need review
  • Fumigate: High burst damage
  • steamtech/chemistry and steamtech/physics: Item Altering
  • Awesome Toss: Need review
  • steamtech/heavy-weapons: Strong passive
