ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I started playing the game again recently and I've been trying to make a disease based ghoul reaver build.
This lead me to the question, what saves does the "Gnaw" talent, in your racial tree, check? Also the descripion in game says "If your attack hits, the target may be infected with ghoul rot", so I'm also wondering, if there is a chance ghoul rot doesn't proc on hit regardless of saves?

Gnaw uses your physical power to apply the Ghoul Rot status. However, the Ghoul Rot status is a magical effect, so it probably checks spell save. I'm not seeing any %-based failure chance on it, just talent level thresholds that control which stats get damaged.

Thanks for clarifying that. It kind of makes sense that it uses physical power to apply, but it's also unfortunate since I only skilled constitution and spellpower.
Although wouldn't it make more sense to have the apply power be dependent on constitution, like I initially figured, since it would fit in more with the rest of the talent tree?
