ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Ok I've met Grand Corruptor. I'm 34lvl summoner, he is 28lvl boss. When I got him for the first time in the forest my summons beat him almost to death, but suddenly he grabbed me to the unknown plane Fearscape (small room, fire, lava floor and stuff). My summons didn't follow me and I ended up there just on my own. Time seems stopped, so my summons don't live and don't count their life turns. I already reached my summon limit (4 summons, and they're on the otherside) and can't summon anymore. Thus, I'm all alone in this Fearscape and without my main weapon to fight. Can't see any exit, already used all my saves and damaged next to nothing to boss. So what's the catch? How am I supposed to beat him? Thanks.

That is unfortunate. If you were further away he wouldn't have been able to Fearscape you away from your summons.
He can't keep the Fearscape up forever though. If you can hide and survive long enough, or drain his Vim/dispel the sustain you will be dropped back to where you were and your critters will finish their job.

yes, as HP said, i believe the fearscape has a range limit of 5.

one method of dealing dealing with him, is heavy disable. mage, is useless without his spells.
also, its a good idea to have some blight wards, as it's mis main damage source.

another method of dealing with him, is exhaustion.
throw minions at him while staying behind the corner, until he duns out of of vim.
just make sure to use the durable ones, otherwise he is going to oneshot them, to restore his vim. also, drain vim may make it a bit... slow solution.

Yes, looks like I've won a Jackpot, ding ding ding! I tried to Mana Clash him but he seems ok and in reply blasted me, halving my HP - he is freaking beast I'm telling you. I thought I can try to run around this little relief to play for time, but somehow he managed to reach me quickly (maybe teleport or something).

I'm antimagic user (Ziguranth) and don't have any spells nor arcane powered equipment. So I can't make it. And no wards.

As I told he looked like a total piece of trash when I got my summons before me. He's got 7 summons on his back with Wild Summon turned on and it was slaughter of his. So no problem with this approach, I just have no summons for now.

Anyway the only chance for me seems to try to play for time, hoping that Fearscape won't last forever. In other case death awaits me, spending one of my item-evolved lifes Thanks for the tips! If I die, I'll be back for his head with all this knowledge. I'm just pissed off that I was deafeting foes far more dangerous than this one + much more higher level and can't beat him.

If you have any way of removing sustains, you could use that too, fearscape is one

or you could... uh... activate the talent that turns you into a demon, so fearscape heals you instead of damaging?
if unique talents count then that is a way.

I tried to run around little pillar to play for time and it worked! I needed just a few turns! Fearscape ended and I got back to the normal plane like this: I think I jumped up a little when I saw this Notice my HP, no heals but 1 remaining turn of Heroism. If he could kill me, he certainly would in 1 nuke, but he couldn't. All that he could just cast silly-pushy aura and walk around. I healed myself up, called my healing turtle, called all of my zoo once again and Grand Corraptor got torn. Thanks everyone, god it was SOOOO INTENSE

gj. great feeling to survive this nonsense. Fearscape can be a bitch, if you have the wrong character.

New player here. How do you handle him as a Bulwark? I ran into him just now, and had to flee at level 22. Probably just too low, I know, but the dungeon says level 15 min, so I thought I was OK.

gloves of dispersion will knock him right out of his fearscape (rip gloves of dispersion, 1.6 hath done you wrong)
