What - - thought the vulnerability dream is fine?!

I walk into the caldera with a character that has just gotten past the insanely boring tier 1/2 grind. (First time I had the event)

I get two dreams because of the timer, they are trivial, I find the boss, my character kills him with one talent.

I use the altar because it looks like the way out, I see that the character -may- die, but I still think that it is the way out, and after all, characters can die in this game.

A dream starts where I am a mouse in a corner, in range of a cat that can kill me in one blow. I dash past it, which puts me in a range of another cat's dash, which kills me. Game over. My character dies. -. This is insane.

Actually the exit is not the altar, you simply go back from where you came once you have killed the boss and taken the loot.
In the current version the altar is only for masochists, as you don't need to go there to unlock solipsists as just completing the 2 dreams during regular caldera exploration is enough.

If I recall, killing Mindworm also means you die when you fail a dream.

The Timer stops when you kill the Mindworm, so unless you manually trigger a dream at the alter you shouldn't get dreams from any other source.

the altar is there in case you didn't happen to unlock solipsists already.

The alter is there if you want a random and unfulfilling death.

^This. Just increases the need for spoilers, not good.

Well... Depends on the character, I guess.

Personally... I'd make a "mouse" class if I wanted that. But... I don't. :)

This might be a noob question, but are there dreams other than the mouse dream and the dream where you are the man looking for his wife? It sounds like you guys are saying there are dreams where you can stay as yourself and retain your talents, but I have never gotten one like that, whether it's from the timer running down or from the crystal ball at the end.

Am I doing something wrong?

Nope, those two dreams are the only two dreams that exist.

There are some cheaty ways to cheat your way through and cheat, but that might be tend to be construed as cheating.

They are, in fact, the only two dreams that exist anywhere in Eyal. When some little halfling kid looks out the window and tries to imagine what life will be like when he grows up, the only aspirations available to him are "get eaten" and "mercy-kill the monsters that used to be your loved ones."
